Water at the edge of the house

Falls, rainheads and paving that sends rain the wrong way.

Tallawong 2762 · 21 July 2026

In short: Paving falling toward the house, a rainhead without overflow and settled paving in St Ives.

Where water should go

Away from the walls, into stormwater. On clay soils this matters more, because wet ground under a slab edge moves.

Paving the wrong way

At a St Ives building and pest inspection, paving fell toward the house and directed rain at the walls.

Rainheads and overflows

A rainhead without an overflow had stained the wall behind it, a sign it backs up in heavy rain.

Settlement

Paving had settled unevenly in places, which can follow poor compaction and changes surface falls over time.
